Learn the latest skills
The Teachers’ Summer School HEAT course in Helsinki, Finland isn't just another professional development endeavor; it's a transformative journey designed to foster connections among educators while immersing them in an environment rich with history, culture, and natural beauty.
From dynamic classrooms across various educational settings to the awe-inspiring Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, prepare to be inspired and challenged as you explore new perspectives and seize new opportunities that will leave a lasting impact. Moreover, Helsinki's reputation as a hub of innovation and creativity makes it the ideal backdrop for this summer school.
The Summer School curriculum is based on the Finnish national core curriculum, embracing a holistic and student-centered pedagogical approach. You'll participate in interactive and inspiring learning sessions, focusing on phenomenon-based teaching and learning—moving away from subjects and towards interdisciplinary topics. HEAT Summer School mirrors the ethos of a typical Finnish camp school, aiming to strengthen cooperation and communication skills in the classroom. Here, you'll learn by doing and sharing, not only with fellow students but also with local experienced teachers. We don't sit quietly at our desks; instead, we move around, go on trips, or at the very least take a break after each 45 minutes of sitting, as is customary in Finnish schools.
HEAT also provides you with an opportunity to share ideas, knowledge, and local practices that are ethically sustainable and culturally sensitive, capable of being transferred from one culture to another. By participating, you'll not only gain new tools for implementing student-centered teaching methods but also enrich discussions with your unique perspectives.
